Christos Michail

Education-Qualifications: First degree in Medical Instruments Technology (Athens, Greece), Master degree and PhD in Medical Physics. Awards: He was awarded with a scholarship from the Greek State Scholarships Foundation (I.K.Y.) for Academic Years 2007-2010 on the 'Technology of Telecommunications in Medicine' specialty after succeeding in the exams of the Foundation. Areas of research: His research interests include development and evaluation (both experimental and theoretical) of radiation detectors for use in digital imaging systems, in the development of Dual Energy methods for breast, bones, etc., image quality evaluation in PET & SPECT systems using Monte Carlo methods.

His Post-Doctoral research interests are: 1. Development of novel Medical Imaging Dual Energy X-ray methods for osteoporosis, mammography and angiography. 2. Development of nano-phosphors for digital medical imaging and optoelectronic devices (quantum dots-QDs). 3. Development of novel quality assurance methods for nuclear medicine imaging systems (SPECT and PET) using Monte Carlo and experimental verification. 4. Development of a Dual energy digital tomosynthesis imaging system using a dedicated digital tomosynthesis mammography large area CMOS detector (Dexela 2923MAM).

Funded research projects: 13 funded research projects, as a researcher and 2 programs approved at the first stage of evaluation. He has also participated as a reviewer in 27 scientific journals, as well as in international research programs (New Zealand Government).

Current position: Collaborating researcher at the Technological Educational Institution (TEI) of Athens, Department of Biomedical Engineering. From 2011 he is an adjunct laboratory instructor in the Biomedical Engineering Department of the Technological Educational Institution (TEI) of Athens and he was also Instructor of the courses 'Digital Imaging' in the Department of Radiologic Technologists and 'Biophysics' in the Department of Physiotherapy.

He has contributed in the completion of 4 PhD Dissertations, 4 MSc Theses, as it can be depicted from the relevant publications and the acknowledgements. He was also member of the examination committee in 3 MSc Theses in the Departmental postgraduate program in Advanced Systems and Methods in Biomedical Engineering of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Technological Educational Institute of Athens.

He is also a member of the Editorial Board of the scientific journal Engineering, technology and Applied Science Research (ETASR) and Guest Editor of the special issues (2015) 637 and (2017) 931 in J. Phys.: Conf. Ser. He is currently ranked in the 6th position between 1071 authors in Scopus under the affiliation "Technologiko Ekpaideutiko Idrima, Athinas" ID 60002861. ?he h-index according to Scopus is 15 and according to Google Scholar 18.

Scientific Publications: He has published 96 Peer-reviewed papers. Furthermore 63 proceedings in international scientific conferences with referees, 73 abstracts, 9 book chapters, 16 proceedings in National scientific congresses and 9 invited lectures. The number of citations given in his papers, after relatively short time of publication, is 309 (excluding self-citations) and 805 in total.
