Dr. Spiros Kostopoulos received his B.Sc. degree in Biomedical Engineering from the Department of Medical Instruments Technology of the Technological Educational Institute of Athens, Greece, in 2000, and the M.Sc. degree in Medical Physics from the University of Surrey, UK, in 2004. He received his Ph.D in Medical Physics in 2009 from the University of Patras, Greece. He has worked as a Post Doctoral researcher in bioinformatics, awarded a grant from the National State Scholarship Foundation of Greece.

He is Assistant Professor in the department of Biomedical Engineering of the Technological Educational Institute of Athens in the field of Digital Analysis of Medical Image.

His main research activities lie in the field of Medical Image Analysis, Decision Support Systems, Pattern Recognition, and Medical Informatics. He has more than 30 publications in scientific journals with impact factor and more than 70 publications in international and national conferences. His scientific publications, starting from 2005, have received more than 150 not-self citations so far.
