A gamma probe based on a single R8900U-00-C12 PSPMT,
dedicated for SLN imaging has been designed and is under construction.
The probe provides a combination of high sensitivity (close to
2cps/kBq) and good spatial resolution (6mm FWHM @ 2cm and 10.6mm FWHM @
5cm distance). The length of the collimator-scintillator-PSPMT is 50mm
and the electronics are very simple and compact. Thus the total length
of the probe will be <10cm and the front side of the detector 3x3cm2. This compact size allows its use during surgery and/or for the detailed scan of a suspicious region.
